W93 THE EXCURSION - Portersfoote Bunting Light Railway, Whimshire

To ease overcrowding on its popular summer specials, the PBLR built a number of triple decked 3rd class excursionists' carriages from recycled coal wagons. Although popular, on fine days at any rate, their use was naturally restricted to sections of the line with no overbridges and no overhanging trees to impede progress. With the passing years, however, woodlands enveloped the railway to such an extent that this rolling stock had to be abandoned. The carriages were dismantled and returned to their former duty of carrying coal.
