The first powered canal narrow boat in Whimshire, The Mercury, scythes through the normally placid waters at the approach to Myrtle Wharf. An ancient railway locomotive, rescued from redundancy at a colliery near Darlington in the North of England, has been bolted to the stern and drives a small paddle wheel on each side.
